Assessment of Learner Achievement
Multiplication Assessment:
This assessment required learners to demonstrate fluency with basic multiplication and related division facts of products and dividends through 100. To master this standard students must be able to multiply 1-digit by 1-digit numbers and multiply 1-digit by 2-digit numbers. After the completion of four, 30 minute hand-on lessons pertaining to multiplication, students were able to accurately calculate the answers to 1-digit X 1-digit and1-digit X 2-digit equations with products through 100.Students met the criterion of acceptable performance and demonstrated that they were able to make sense of problems and persevere in solving them, use a variety of mathematical tools effectively and strategically, and communicate mathematically and approach mathematical situations with precision.
I used the following Google Form Multiplication Quiz to evaluate students’ understanding of multiplication.
Google Form: Multiplication Quiz
Students scanned the QR Code and completed the fifteen question multiplication quiz in class. The quiz then self-graded and I reviewed the results.

The following scores were assigned based on the student’s overall score.
15/15= 100% = A
14/15= 94% = A
13/15= 87% = B
12/15= 80% = B
11/15= 73% = C
10/15= 67% = D
9/15= 60% = D
8/15= 53% = F
7/15= 47% = F
6/15= 40% = F
5/15= 33% = F
4/15= 27% = F
3/15= 20% = F
2/15= 13% = F
1/15= 7% = F
0/15= 0% = F
To prepare for the assessment:
Students watched each of the following tutorials prior to the day's class.
· Extended Facts 1
· Extended Facts 2
· Extended Facts 3
· Extended Facts 4
· Multiplication Methods: Partial-Products Multiplication
· Multiplication Methods: Partial Products with Multi-digit Factors
· Multiplication Methods: Lattice Multiplication 1
· Multiplication Methods: Lattice Multiplication 2
Students then used iPads to individually play the EDM Game: Multiplication Bingo, until they completed a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal match. I will be available to assist students in selecting multiplication strategies as needed.
Next, Students then used iPads to individually play the EDM Game: Multiplication Baseball, until they have earned a score that is higher than the computer’s score. I will be available to assist students in selecting multiplication strategies as needed.
Learner achievement demonstrated through the completion if the Google Form Multiplication Assessment proved that students were able to use various multiplication strategies to find the products of multiplication equations.
Evaluation of Methods and Media
Instructional methods, media and materials used were effective. The EDM Tutorial videos and EDM Games were engaging and provided meaningful student engagement and participation. The teacher-created screen cast provided students with an extra support system, which students could use, and review from home. Class reactions to learning materials and assessment outcomes demonstrated that students were overly content with the methods selected, media utilized throughout the lesson, and assessment outcome.
Evaluation of Strategies and Resources
Student performance was assessed independently using the Google Form QR code linked above. Feedback was provided to students during the face-to-face lessons, as well as in the comments section of their Google Form. By reviewing student’s Google Form submissions, I was able to pin-point specific fact families that particular students needed more practice on to master. In follow-up lessons I provided extra support for these fact families by assigning tutorials with strategies for specific fact families, and working one-on-one during our in person class sessions.
Students were asked how they felt about the EDM Tutorial Videos and EDM Games informally during class interactions. Student responses indicated that they liked how the videos were easy to understand, and explained strategies in detail as well as provided examples. Students were also
Revision
Based upon student performance, materials and resources are suitable for this lesson. However, the assessment procedures used did not allow me to view the specific strategies students were using. In future lessons, I would incorporate a check box section below each questions that would allow students to select which strategy they used to answer each questions. This would allow me to determine which strategies the students found most useful and effective. I would also add tutorials and specific practice pertaining to the 7s, 8s and 9s fact families, as these were the fact families that students struggled with the most.
